Apparently my friends and family have discovered that I heart cookbooks. And I am so glad that they did!! My collection is growing and I am going to have to figure out a new storage system! But I am so excited! These are the 4 that I got for Christmas. I can't wait to read through them all. I like that they are all different and that each one will definitely stretch my skills or lack there of. I will be sure to post as new favorite dishes are discovered! Do you have any of these? Any recipe I just have to try first?

The holidays at home!
The Perks are back from a grand trip to NC. We had a great time visiting with all of our friends and family. It was a whirlwind few days. Santa found us, and to our surprise was very good to us! We will be delighting in a new chest freezer, a new cuisinart food processor & a flip video camera. It was a very jolly holiday! Now back to work. Yuck.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care....My 5 year old nephew and I had quite the sleepover last night. We played Candyland, made gingerbread men, watched Santa Claus is coming to town and eaten a lot of snacks. WE ARE READY FOR SANTA!!! We have been up since 7:30am anticipating his arrival in 24 short hours.... Merry Christmas Eve to all!!!

Food for thought...
This holiday season I have not done as much baking as normal. Our jaunt to Mexico threw off my holiday plans (in a good way) Yesterday I was in a kitchen frenzy. I worked all day at my office and had to finish wrapping the presents when I got home and did I mention it was Mr. P's 30th birthday? Since we went to Mexico to celebrate he had been warned his actual birthday was going to be boring. We enjoyed a yummy dinner that I picked up at Earthfare. We had the steaks but I picked up the prettiest green asparagus & some premade Gouda mashed potatoes. HEAVENLY. It was a really nice meal! Dessert was a rich chocolate mousse topped with hazelnut whipped cream.Pickled Peaches: this is what my dad wanted for Christmas. Of course he told us this at Thanksgiving so it wasn't like we could make them! So we ordered them from the Internet! The Old Mill shipped everything in a quick fashion and did a fabulous packing job to insure their safe arrival! They have all sort of food products that look yummy. My dad was thrilled (these came early and I let him eat them!) and said the peaches were delicious. He has been feeling nostalgic lately...and apparently enjoyed these back in the day.
Tonight I am at the Inn to create some holiday yummies for our guests. I am looking forward to baking since I haven't done too much this year. Usually I am dreading this sort of stuff by now!
